I have really been wondering if I should give Stitch Fix a try or not. And I really appreciate your review. I would really love someone to send me some clothes I would just love. But, I also almost shop when Kohl’s has a sale and I have a 30% off, or Loft’s 70% off. Or when I know exactly what I am looking for. I love the idea of Stitch Fix, but think I need to stick with sale shopping for now. Maybe when I don’t have 4 kids at home….

I agree with Liz – following all of Stitch Fix’s social media accounts is a lot of work. I’m finding that I’ve found a few fashion bloggers who have the same body type, lifestyle, and budget that I do – and they often provide links to what they’re wearing… and I’d rather my “stylist fee” go towards clicking through their website. If I have to tell them exactly what I’m looking for, then it seems to defeat the purpose.

That said… my husband has enjoyed Stitch Fix because it forces me to try on a few things that I normally wouldn’t wear. It’s easier for a stranger/professional stylist to make suggestions than for my husband to make suggestions. 🙂 So I’m going to incorporate these tips into my next Stitch Fix box (#3 on its way in a week or two).

I really appreciate that feedback Leah!

My question (as someone who hasn’t tried it) is, isn’t that a whole lot of work, for something that’s supposed to save you a lot of work? Posting, reading posts, following multiple social media accounts daily….

If they’re posting great new products they have in, can’t you just use their site for inspiration then order those products directly from somewhere else without going through the whole routine?

I’d love your perspective. Or maybe your sister’s perspective?

Such GREAT suggestions Leah! I had started a Pinterest board but it probably has only about 20 things on it (I’m not much of a Pinterest user). . .though your other tips are very helpful! I’ll keep this in mind if I should jump back into Stitch Fix.

Her reply is always, “Stitch Fix!” So what am I doing wrong? She had some amazing tips for me.
First off, we have very different lives. She’s single, corporate America, out and about kind of gal. I’m SAHM, two daughters, photographing weddings on the weekends. I’m boho/edgy- she’s much more prep and flouncy.
That being said- her advice made so much sense.
First- follow Stitch Fix. On Facebook. On Pinterest. On Instagram. Anything they are one. You’ll see examples of what they have, styles they create, and can use the actual brand and item name if there is something you want to try- or even something comparable.
Second- read the blog. Using terms and buzz words they’re talking about can help you when sending notes to your stylist. You may even be able to identify your body type more specifically based on a blog post. Or try a new trend they’re covering.
Third- pin it. Create a Stitch Fix Style Board and pin to your hearts desire. Pin from your favorite websites, pin your celebrity style crush, visit their Pinterest page and pin the things you love or want to try. Give them way more info than you think they need. And really- who isn’t spending time scrolling through pinning aimlessly anyway? Now you can pin with a mission.
Now I’m not a style guru by any means. But I now know better than ever what is more flattering on my smokin hot, 40 year old, mom bod. I just needed a little help. And really- it’s just fun.

🙂

At first it was great- was keeping everything. Now I can’t tell you the last time I’ve kept a thing from my box. I try to say why I’m not keep each piece so they can use that going forward and I edit my profile etc. They still send the same stuff! Last couple times I got items that were not on the cards and/or damaged items. It’s getting really disappointing- thinking about stopping for a while……
